Some Catholic and Protestant thinkers have argued that America is in decline because it is liberal, and they have argued for a "post-liberal" order. This order would jettison a constitutional republic protecting rights and liberties for an executive-led bureaucracy with an established Church that would impose religious order from above. Not only is this post-liberal order morally wrong, other nations have tried to establish it—and failed. This panel will explore the book Why Postliberalism Failed to explain the moral and political failure of previous post-liberal orders and why contemporary efforts are similarly doomed.
The panel will be a live podcast recording for Acton Line, Acton Institute's official podcast.
