Charlie and Kathy Self are celebrating 46 years of marriage and credentialed ministry. Kathleen Self is a  missionary-artist (www.colorbrush.com). Kathy’s works are in public and private collections around the world. Charlie has 30+ years of local church ministry as a lead, associate, and interim pastor. He has 40+ years of higher education service as a professor and administrator. 

Charlie has extensive experience launching and serving multiple networks, including being on the Steering Team for the Ascent Movement (www.ascentmovement.org). 

Charlie has four earned degrees: A BA with honors in History, a MA in History on the church and social change, and a Ph.D. in History with foci on church history, virtue ethics, and Holocaust Studies. University of California, Santa Cruz; and a MA in systematic and philosophical theology, Graduate Theological Union, Berkeley, CA.

Charlie’s many ministry expressions unite discipleship and mission in the local church, the marketplace, the public square, and the academy. Along with numerous articles, Charlie is the author of Flourishing Churches and Communities and co-author of Life in 5D: A New Vision of Discipleship.  He is a recent co-author, with Doug Clay, of 13: Leadership is More than Luck.
