This talk will define and assess the ancient but newly resurrected political theology known as Catholic integralism. Integralism holds that the Catholic Church should have indirect authority over Christian states. The Church may direct the state to assist its religious mission by using state power to back up the governance of baptized Christians. Vallier defines this often obscure but increasingly popular view. He then provides a powerful argument in its favor and a powerful critique.
