What if solving poverty started not with top-down programs but with you, your family, and your neighborhood?

This interactive session explores the principle of subsidiarity—the idea that solutions should begin at the most local level possible. We’ll trace the concept from its theological and philosophical roots (Kuyper, Pius XI, Althusius) to its biblical foundations and show how it applies to real-world poverty alleviation today.

Through case studies (Watered Gardens, Poverty Stoplight, CarePortal, PRAVI, PSI), group activities, and discussion, we’ll move from theory to practice. You’ll learn how subsidiarity empowers individuals, families, churches, businesses, and communities to solve problems more effectively than distant bureaucracies can.

By the end of this session, you’ll walk away with a clear understanding of subsidiarity—and a practical framework for applying it in your everyday life, your work, and your service to others.
