There has been a concerted effort over the last two decades to reshape the market economy into "stakeholder capitalism." This involves creating a kind of Corporatism where governments and business work together to achieve "social" goods like equity, environmental responsibility, diversity, etc. But this stakeholder capitalism creates significant market inefficiencies and also politicizes the marketplace.
