Conscience: What It Is and Why We Need It

“Conscience” and “conscience rights” are not terms used as much as they used to be. Yet a notion of conscience is essential to understanding why freedom is necessary and to what it is directed. This course will look at the classical ecumenical understanding of conscience, why it has been disappearing, and why we need it back for a healthy understanding of freedom and virtue.
