John Taylor was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. He was converted to Christ from atheism while at college, and then called to England as a missionary. He spent many years with Youth With A Mission, working in evangelism and discipleship, pioneering ministry among the poor in the inner city, preaching all across the United Kingdom and in over twenty countries around the world, and directing the work of YWAM in London. He has an undergraduate degree in urban planning from the University of Melbourne, a Master of Divinity degree from Fuller Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in New Testament from the University of Cambridge in England. His academic research and writing is in the area of Pauline theology, and what the New Testament has to say about the relationship of faith, work and economics. He spent twelve years teaching New Testament at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Texas, and is now at Gateway Seminary in Ontario, California, where he is Professor of New Testament, and Director of the Ph.D. program. He continues to travel and preach in churches and seminaries in the US, and across the world.
