Dr. John Pinheiro

Professor of History & Director of Catholic Studies, Aquinas College

Dr. John Pinheiro is professor of history and director of Catholic Studies at Aquinas College, Michigan. He holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Pinheiro co-edited volume 12 of the Presidential Series of the Papers of George Washington and is the author of Manifest Ambition: James K. Polk and Civil-Military Relations during the Mexican War. Consulting Editor on the Polk presidency for the University of Virginia's Miller Center of Public Affairs, his publications also include articles on the early American republic in academic journals. Dr. Pinheiro's new book is Missionaries of Republicanism: A Religious History of the Mexican-American War, published by Oxford University Press.
